Donating Items When Preparing to Move

McMinnville Mover giving the thumbs up for donations

While moving can be stressful, it can also provide a great opportunity to clean out closets and pantries, giving you the benefit of starting off more organized and clutter free in your new home.  We have reached out to several organizations in McMinnville that accept various types of donations and have created a list to get you started if you are looking to donate items as you prepare to move.  We know moving can be busy and sometimes even if you have a desire to donate, adding one more thing to your list can feel like too much.  Our crew is happy to bring donation items back to the office and we will get them to the proper donation point for you.  We can send one of our signature blue bins with your moving crew and you can fill it with pantry items or other gently used household items to donate to one of the organizations below.  Just let us know at your 24 hour pre-move check in if you will need us to send a blue bin for donation items!

-My Father’s closet accepts donations for kids ages birth to age 17.  This includes things like baby food, toddler snacks, shampoos, diapers, clothing etc.  They are located at 639 North Chancery St. and can be reached at (931) 306-6843.  McMinnville Drug on Sparta Street is also a drop off location for My Father’s Closet.

-Helping Hands Ministry is a partner with 2nd harvest food bank and they take all donations except for TV’s and mattresses.  They accept non-perishable food donations as long as they have not been opened and are in date.  You can drop off donations at the back of the building at 216 East Main St.

-Families in Crisis accepts household items and specific needs can often be found on their facebook page.  Their drop off location is 101 West Main St. on the second floor and they can be reached at 931-473-6221.

-McMinnville Food Bank partners with UCHRA to run their organization.  They accept all unopened, non-perishable food items and will take food items that are 1 year beyond the date.  Desired items include crackers, cereals, oats, instant potatoes, sweet peas, pastas sauces, etc.  Donations can be dropped off at 314 West Morford on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9am and 2pm.

McMinnville Moving and Storage loves supporting these organizations that serve our community so well and hope you will consider donating items as you prepare to move.  If you are scheduled to move with us and need help with getting items to a donation point please let us know and we will note a donation pick up on moving day!
